Vietnam-era veterans sue the Defense Department over its treatment of their post-traumatic stress. They want the military to re-evaluate their cases in light of current understanding of PTSD. Tom Berger is executive director of the Veterans Health Council at the Vietnam Veterans of America. It’s organizing the plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

You might have put last year’s furloughs out of your mind, and who can blame you? But for one agency, your bad memory is its present struggle. The Merit Systems Protection Board is working through more than 32,000 furlough appeals. Chairman Susan Tsui Grundmann says most of the cases are now assigned to administrative judges and are in the hearing process. The board is also asking Congress for an additional $6 million in 2015, on top of the $42 million allotted by the White House.
