Memorial funds set up for family of slain guard

The memorial funds to benefit the family of the security guard killed at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum have been set up.

WASHINGTON — The memorial funds to benefit the family of the security guard killed at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum have been set up.

Stephen T. Johns, 39, was killed Wednesday afternoon when a gunman entered the museum and started shooting.

The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum says checks payable to USHMM Officer Johns Family Fund may be mailed to

To donate to the memorial fund set up by the American Jewish Committee, the organization is asking you to send checks made payable to the American Jewish Committee, with “Holocaust Museum Memorial Fund” in the memo line, to:

The American Jewish Committee said it will soon have something on its Web site to contribute. The AJC says all the contributions will go to the Johns family.

Additionally, a scholarship fund has been established for John’s son, Tyrone Jr.
