Each Government Department, including the White House, can take this time to weed out un-needed functions and find ways to reduce costs. Even those not affected by sequestration, but funded by taxpayer funds, should return a portion of their salary to the Treasury. The President should curtail trips - he can use the media to get his message out. They all need to remember that it is our kids future that is at stake. However, lots of those on the Hill and in the White House are probably in a situation where thier kids need not worry.

How about proposing something of real meaning that might actually solve the 85 Billion dollar sequestration problem. Sit down like a true statesman that you were elected to do instead of grandstanding. Give a little, get a little and get something done and negotiated. For Coburn's edification, most hiring of 'non-essential' personnel has already been frozen. In fact, the DoD frozen all hiring as of 16 January 2013. Coburn is a putz who finds it politically fashionable to bash Federal employees to somehow convince the public that spending on these employees is bad. Last time I checked Mr. Coburn, the very employees you are bashing provide services that are the envy of the world and keep the very freedom in place that allows your foolish grandstanding. Grow up and do something constructive and solve this sequestration problem.

maybe Mr Coburn would like to nominate his position for non-essential vacancy. Illinois did without the services of a senator for the entire 2012. Illinois did not prosper, nor did it fail. thus proving states only need one senator. what percentage of sequestration will apply to the Legislative Branch?
