Are contractors exaggerating sequestration impact?

As sequestration draws nearer, contractor groups have pointed to alarming studies that show the 9 percent in across-the-board Defense cuts would throw at least 1 million people out of work and potentially cripple the defense and aerospace industries. But in a new report, the Center for International Policy, a nonprofit group which advocates reducing military spending, presented evidence that far fewer defense-sector jobs would be lost than industry has claimed and that defense companies would likely be able to absorb the defense cuts.

    The only jobs we now have now is Gov. contracting and in retail selling foreign products. The factories are all off shore. Where the profit is. Think about it.

    Contractors won't lose. They will move their employees to other non-defense contracts and still make money and their employees will still be working. Defense contractors and the government and military aristocracy that let them run rampant is why the DoD is in this position in the first place. Eisenhower warned us. Don't you think it's time we took it seriously?

    Saving money by DLA buying wisely

    I'm a small business in a hubzone and know a thing or two about saving money. The DLA could save 50% or more in the Test Equipment sector by buying reconditioned Test Equipment instead of brand new. Like an automobile, the price for Test Equipment drops dramatically once it becomes "used" even if it was used only for a few hours or days. Today at Naptech and other reconditioned Test Equipment companies equipment can be bought reconditioned "like new" with 1-3 year warranty if desired for a fraction of what it would cost brand new. Also companies like Naptech can save the government millions and perhaps billions of dollars by having the Test Equipment repaired by qualified companies instead of disposing it when it needs repair. This includes even the older "obsolete" equipment the manufacturers will no longer repair. If the DOD would take on purchasing policies like small businesses do, and buy used/reconditioned equipment when they can, and by having equipment repaired at small businesses like Naptech it would save them millions or billions of dollars and help the economy by creating more business and jobs for small businesses like Naptech at the same time.
