The GOP wants federal employees to be paid more like the private sector, which would make Congress on the level of a Board of Directors and the President a CEO. We all know how much they get paid once all their benefits are calculated in. In addition, they want to fire federal employees that do not pay their taxes. Hmm, how many in Congress right now are not up to date with the tax man as well as all of their staffers (both Republicans and Democrats)? However though, I'm guessing when heads roll, Congress will be well sheltered.

Yes this is a fact but how many of those positions were new growth and how many of them were military to civilian or contractor to civilian positions? Contractors are not counted under the federal workforce umbrella and sometimes neither is the military. Let's just have all the facts and stop playing games with the numbers. Clinton did that with the A76 studies (pushed civilian federal jobs to contractors and said he reduced the number of federal employees.)

Great post, but please allow me to correct one falsehood. Eliminating the TSA is a great idea which hasn't proven its worth at all. The previous screeners did not fail and actually had a better detection rate than today's TSA screeners with better equipment. Aircraft continue to be boarded by uncleared personnel. Cargo continues to be loaded unchecked. Airport workers continue to receive unscreened access to the ramp area. And caterers are allowed unscreened access to the aircraft. All of these are just like it was before 9/11. To keep it in perspective, passengers didn't hijack those airplanes, terrorists did. Terrorists used our own procedures against us and they will do so again. Eliminate this P-O-S organization now, and lets start enjoying the billions of dollars in savings annually. THIS IS A NO-BRAINER.

Keep on paying those worthy union dues folks! I mean they're doing incredible things for you! What a joke!

Entitlements are about the only thing the GOP ought to be talking about. This buys them little. The problem the US faces is the burden of entitlements. Forget abortion - state issue and do they REALLY care? Forget the discretionary budget. Cuts there buy you nothing.
