  • Cuts to the military

Guess the military as well as the other departments must suffer from the burdens of the deficit. I wonder what would have happened if the Republicans would have agreed to the increase in taxes on the wealthy.

  • MILITARY CUTS

It's only snipping around the edges; and, then, it's only decreasing the rate of increase of spending. The most expensive part of any business is people with their pay and current and future benefits; especially the long term benefits; e.g., retirement pay and medical care. To cut the budget means to cut not only the rate of increase of spending to zero; it also means cutting 5%/yr. for 10 years beyond the zero percent increase in spending. That is budget cutting and all federal, state, county and municipal agencies should follow suit.

A better idea would be to increase taxes on the wealthy (definition to be determined) to pre Bush amounts. This, along with reducing the increase in the budget might solve the problems.----------Sorry about hitting the button so many times.

  • Reduction in size of military

[The Army had to be expanded by tens of thousands of soldiers and the Marine Corps also grew.] ========================================== Given our current high employment, I'd like to hear the rest of the story (i.e., what jobs those released from the military will have available to them). Suspect no one is considering that aspect of the budget. Merely adding to the unemployed won't endear the POTUS to anyone.
