The evolution of Recovery.gov

Recovery.gov\'s Michael Wood joins us with a look behind the website\'s public face. December 7, 2010

December 7, 2010 — When the Obama administration put together the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 it sold it as a stimulus package whose results could be transparent.

The people who received these funds at the state and local levels had to report every three months how much money they received and how many jobs were created. Quite easy to announce at a press conference — more difficult to achieve in a tight time frame.

Recovery.gov’s Michael Wood accepted the challenge and led a team that accurately collected data from a wide range of sources and developed a website that would present the impact in a graphical manner – Recovery.gov.

Listen to our interview to hear about the challenges associated with collecting the data and how the website has evolved over the past year.
