The Homeland Security Department's $1.5 billion multiple award contract for service disabled veteran-owned small businesses is on hold, for now.
A DHS spokesman confirms that eight unsuccessful bidders protested the awards to 28 vendors to provide program management, administrative, clerical and technical services.
The agency announced the awards June 19 on FedBizOpps.gov.
The spokesman says of the eight protests, seven went to the Small Business Administration and one went to DHS.
SBA receives protests when the protests center on size standards or status of a company's claim that is service-disabled veteran owned business, while the agency receives the protest when it revolves around contract awards themselves.
"PACTS creates yet another efficiency benefit for the department; at the same time, we are strengthening our commitment to the service-disabled, veteran-owned small business community," the spokesman says.
SBA is expected to decide the protests within 15 days of receipt of complaint.
