NASA tasked with new cybersecurity reporting

NASA has a mandate to manage computer risks in real time.

Congress has taken a special interest in cyber security at NASA. Legislation for many agencies might be stalled, but lawmakers managed to pass new cyber security reporting rules for the space agency. NextGov reports, Congress quietly pushed through a provision requiring NASA to keep lawmakers informed about the agency’s continuous monitoring of its networks. NASA ‘s reauthorization bill also requires the CIO to create an information security awareness and education program. The program will apply to both employees and contractors.
