Sexual assaults in military have fallen

DoD received a little more than 3,000 reports in fiscal 2010.

The Defense Department says overall reports of sexual assaults in the military have fallen.

DoD received a little more than 3,000 reports in fiscal 2010. That’s a two percent decrease over the previous year’s number, according to the DoD website.

The results are part of a yearly DoD report on sexual assault.

DoD has launched new projects to raise awareness about sexual assault. But they are still working to integrate those efforts across the department and the military services.
