Forum: The Future of Maritime Forces

Logistical support will be a central tenet in the future of maritime warfare. The Marines and Navy will work together to provide the infrastructure and supplies for air and ground forces, according to Gen. James Amos, the commandant of the Marine Corps.

Amos spoke recently at at a military strategy forum on the future of maritime forces hosted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies. In Depth host Francis Rose plays highlights from the forum, which also included Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert and the President and CEO of CSIS, John Hamre.

The work of a team Dr. Todd Weber led at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now earning him and his team a top honor. Weber, the chief of the prevention and response branch at the CDC Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, led a team of experts that identified the cause of 2012 meningitis outbreak. He’s a finalist for the Service to America Medal in the Citizen Services category.

The money trail should get easier to follow at agencies across government. But the Government Accountability Office says that’s not the case. The House Oversight Committee told GAO agencies are having trouble using data to determine where to spend money.
