Current Position: Mr. Anderson is the Director of Technology (TD) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the National Security Agency/Central Security Service. In this role, Mr. Anderson serves as the principal for all functions and authorities related to information technology and technology infrastructure for NSA/CSS across the Extended Enterprise.

Mr. Anderson graduated from the University of Maryland (University College) in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government. He also graduated from the Defense Intelligence College in 1990 with a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence.

Mr. Anderson joined NSA/CSS in May 2001 following a 21-year career in the United States Army. His initial assignment at NSA/CSS was leading Data Acquisition’s Access Operations office within the Signals Intelligence Directorate. In the wake of the terrorist attacks of 2001, Mr. Anderson established NSA’s Office of Target Reconnaissance and Survey (OTRS) to provide a robust, full-spectrum, quick reaction capability to fill collection gaps against diverse targets around the world. He remained in that position until December 2004 when he was selected to serve as SID’s first Associate Deputy Director for Counterterrorism. His charge in that position was to ensure the SIGINT system was optimized in support of the War on Terrorism. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Anderson was the Director of the National Security Operations Center (NSOC), a 24/7 watch area supporting the entire global enterprise, from early 2006 until June 2008.

Mr. Anderson is a recipient of the 2006 Distinguished Presidential Rank Award.
