The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) plans to post more workplace safety data online. A proposed rule would require large companies to file injury and illness reports electronically. Tom and Emily spoke with David Michaels, assistant secretary of labor for OSHA. He said many employers are currently keeping data and not reporting it to OSHA. This will be the first time that OSHA will collect this information.

What would you do if your program was handed $1 million from the President? That’s the question facing Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). On the recent 25th annual AIDS Day, President Barack Obama said the NIH would invest that much money over the next three fiscal years to boost research towards a cure. Tom and Emily spoke with Dr. Fauci about NIH’s plans to use the money.

It’s not easy to fire federal employees. That’s where clean records agreements come in. Agencies use them to lay employment-related claims to rest, avoid arbitration, settle and move on. However, the agreements bring complex details that could potentially set feds back to square one. The Merit Systems Protection Board has released a report to help agencies do it right the first time. Tom and Emily spoke with the director of the Office of Policy & Evaluation, Jim Read.

An information-sharing website only works if people share information on it. The intelligence community is making it easier for more people to use its site: Intel-Link U. The site allows people to log on using smart identity cards known as HSPD-12 cards, which are advancing secure information sharing. Federal News Radio’s Executive Editor Jason Miller spoke with Michael Kennedy, executive for assured interoperability at Information Sharing Environment.
