You really can’t judge a book by its cover. This book has a rather dry title: Special Publication 800-53. In reality, it’s the bible of cybersecurity, and it’s produced by the computer security experts at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. 800-53 just received its most extensive revision since 2005. To find out what’s new, we turn to Ron Ross, a NIST fellow in information security and risk management.

Department of Defense leaders spent months warning Congress that military readiness would begin to erode if sequestration went into effect.
