Congress passed a law to modernize the Food and Drug Administration. It had bipartisan support. And it requires a lot of new rule-writing, but it gives FDA a lot more control over imported food. And it sets new standards for controlling food contamination. That was all back in 2010. Yet not much as changed. Some say the rules needed to implement the law are stuck in the Office of Management and Budget.

The Federal Advisory Council on Occupational Safety and Health recently recommended an update to standards for federal employee job classifications. It told the Office of Personnel Management that the job these days is much more complicated than the last time it was updated — 32 years ago. Pollock recently wrote a letter to Office of Personnel Management Director John Berry in support of the changes.
