A federal appeals court has handed the Forest Service a setback and ruled out random drug testing of Job Corps employees. It said the tests were “solutions in search of a problem.” The National Federation of Federal Employees had sued the Interior Department, charging the tests amounted to unreasonable search and seizure. Could this be a precedent for other federal agencies?

The Pentagon may have to find new ways to recruit sports lovers. The House could vote later today to block military sponsorship of professional sports. Supporters of the amendment say sports marketing is not a good use of funding. The National Guard begs to differ. It sponsors NASCAR’s most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. The National Guard Association represents active and retired officers.
