The National Security Agency tests a new IT architecture for securing data on mobile devices. Debora Plunkett is director of the NSA’s information assurance directorate. She tells NextGov mobility is one of 10 top challenges she plans to take on this year. She describes a new mobile infrastructure using commercial tools to deliver data safely to smart phones and tablets. NSA will test a mobile data delivery system patterned after the one used by Amazon for its Kindle e-readers. It uses a commercial wireless carrier but adds program-specific security features.
