Army re-enlistment bonus in thousands

Soldiers can receive anywhere from $1,300 to $40,000

The Army is giving soldiers up to $40,000 to re-enlist. Military Times reports the bonuses are aimed at helping the service branch generate 45,000 enlistments during fiscal 2011. The actual payouts will range from $1,300 to $40,000 depending on rank, job specialty and length of service extension. Bonus rates are expected to fall early next year, as the Army’s retention incentive program braces for likely cuts.
