Gordon Gillerman and Matt Scholl of NIST discuss standards, certification and accreditation with host John Gilroy. June 19, 2012(Encore presentation December 25...

June 19, 2012 — Under the Department of Commerce, NIST is charged with giving guidance in the areas of measurement and standards.

The last twenty years has seen the proliferation of the Internet and, after September of 2001, a drastic increase in concern for information technology security.

These changes have pushed NIST into the spotlight.

Today, NIST must work with agencies that enforce regulations as prosaic as preventing toys from having lead in the paint to questions about nuclear waste disposal.

This week on “Federal Tech Talk”, NIST’s Gordon Gillerman and Matt Scholl take a look at standards, certification, and accreditation – the world that is classified as “conformity assessment.”

During the interview, they will detail how they work with international, national, and federal organizations to reduce duplication of standards and insure a safe and secure transition to the cloud.
