A House hearing this morning will explore an unsettling prospect. The International Telecommunications Union is proposing a new, international regime for regulating the Internet. It would allow nations like Iran and Russia to take part, and it would end the decades of self-governance that’s allowed the Internet to flourish. U.S. officials from both parties are against the ITU proposal. FCC Commissioner Robert McDowell will be among today’s witnesses.

Agencies are patting themselves on the back for hiring record numbers of veterans. That’s one of President Obama’s key workforce initiatives, but he has another one — hiring 100,000 disabled workers by 2015. It doesn’t look like agencies will meet that goal. Author and Strategic Issues Director Yvonne Jones details a new Government Accountability Office report that explains why.
