FCC asks private ISP providers to fight cyber threats

A new FCC report finds the providers have the power to crack down on attacks like botnets, domain name fraud and IP address hijacking.

The Federal Communications Commission is asking Private Internet Service Providers to step up the fight against cyber threats, PC Magazine reports.

A new FCC report finds the providers have the power to crack down on attacks like botnets, domain name fraud and IP address hijacking. Chairman Julius Genachowski is asking for a “multi-stakeholder” system, where private ISPs work together to create a safe online environment. More than $8 trillion flows through private ISPs every year.
