Competitive purchasing of energy could apply to individuals, groups

Reverse auctions — in which the bidder is the seller — have helped large companies and cities save millions of dollars in energy costs and could be used for individuals and neighborhoods, according to a Southeastern Louisiana University professor in a release.

Professor David Wyld’s idea is to develop an “e-marketplace” where consumers can purchase energy from a number of sources.

“Reverse energy would help consumers save on their energy bills and ‘go green’ in the process,” Wyld said in the release.
