This is reality?

We're back! For the month of August, Washington, D.C., was a really nice place to live and visit, Senior Correspondent Mike Causey says. Streets were quiet, restaurants empty, traffic was tolerable and some of our town's loudest, most aggressive people (Congress, lawyers, journalists and think tankers) were away ... But we are all back with a vengeance.

Lifeguard duty for some feds

Air Force bolsters civilian transition program for veterans

It's the first major overhaul of the program in 20 years. Among the changes, the Air Force is offering three "paths" for airmen an educational to go back to school, a small business path to become an entrepreneur and a vocational technical path.

USPS offers early outs to 3,300 workers

GOP platform takes aim at federal workforce

The Republican Party officially unveiled national party platform Tuesday, revealing its plan to downsize the federal workforce, trim federal benefits and privatize airport screeners. The party's platform calls for a reduction in the federal workforce by at least 10 percent through attrition, says federal pay and benefits should be aligned with the private sector and calls for reforms to the U.S. Postal Service.
