Feds in the Cloud

The federal government has a new "cloud first" technology policy, meaning that IT systems should be using web-based applications hosted by trusted vendors whenever a secure, reliable, cost-effective cloud option exists. All agencies must move at least 3 systems "to the cloud" by mid-2012. Email and workplace collaboration applications are among the most popular early choices of applications being moved to the cloud, with a number of agencies already successfully moving to web-based email.
