Agency pilots help cultivate 'inherently governmental' changes

Army to lead consolidation of approved products lists

Brigadier Gen. Steven Smith says his office will meet with his counterpart in the Marines this week and other services soon to figure out how to share certified products more easily. Vendors say the process to get on these lists is inconsistent, difficult and expensive. Smith says DoD recognizes the challenges and wants to increase collaboration among the services.

Lawmakers tell supercommittee to cap contractor salaries

The proposal by three members of Congress would reduce the amount contractor employees can earn from government work. Currently, the limit is about $694,000 and applies only to companies' top five executives.

OFPP's Gordon not stymied by bumps in the road to acquisition reform

Despite pushback on some issues by industry, Dan Gordon listens to input from all sides as the Office of Federal Procurement Policy continues to follow its own path to reform the acquisition process. The OFPP administrator said his office is close to issuing new guidance around business cases for multiple award contracts and a final rule redefining inherently governmental jobs.

Agencies must cut service contracting by 15 percent

OMB will tell agencies to focus on management support service contracts and reduce spending by $6 billion. OMB said contracting for management support services grew at a faster rate than other types of contracting. The initiative is part of the administration's Campaign to Cut Waste.

DoD decides not to move DISA to Cyber Command
