Superfresh to close Spring Valley store in July

One of the nation's first supermarket chains is about to close its last store in the nation's capital, disappointing shoppers in the Spring Valley neighborhood of Northwest Washington.

Superfresh to close 22 Md. stores, 1 in D.C.

"We determined that these 25 Superfresh locations are outside A&P's core market," said A&P President and Chief Executive Officer Sam Martin, in a news release.
