The committee will focus on making it easier for small firms to do business with the Pentagon. The military missed three of five small business goals in 2010. The Panel on Business Challenges in the Defense Industry made several recommendations to improve the success of small firms that want to do business with DoD.
The service will use both penalties and incentives to get their program offices and large businesses to award more prime and subcontracts to small firms. The Air Force issued a new small business improvement plan that details three goals to increase both the percentage of contracts and dollars going to small companies.
A panel of lawmakers concluded that it was not easy doing business with the Defense Department, especially for small and medium sized business.
George Washington University Law School professor Steve Schooner joins host Roger Waldron to talk about the top procurement issues.
