House chairman renews criticism of VA bonuses
Rep. Jeff Miller, chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, said that giving the government's top award for its senior professionals to VA regional director Michael Moreland showed there was no limit to the "VA's tone deafness."

SESers honored for distinguished service, saving $94B in 2012
Each year, the Presidential Distinguished Rank Awards honor members of the Senior Executive Service for their accomplishments. But this year, one very important group of federal employees was left out. Carol Bonosaro, president of the Senior Executives Association, said she's frustrated that this year's event included no winners from the intelligence community because the White House has yet to approve their nominations. An ODNI official said intelligence community winners will be announced soon.

Feds hail OPM's John Berry as an 'advocate' and 'champion'

Senate bill seeks to reform Senior Executive Service
Sen. Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii) introduced the Senior Executive Reform Act, which would link the General Schedule with the pay system for senior executives and let senior executives include their performance bonuses in their retirement calculation.

SESers see bonuses drop in face of budget woes
Many agencies began freezing senior executives' pay and limiting performance awards a year before the White House ordered them to do so. That finding comes from a new report by the Office of Personnel Management that some say underscores the pressure to prove a pay-for-performance system can work when there isn't a lot of money.
