Union renews call for extending mass-transit tax benefit

The National Treasury Employees Union has renewed its call for Congress to renew an expansions of a mass-transit subsidy that expired at the end of last year. The union said it supports passage either through a stand-alone bill or through a package of nearly 70 temporary tax breaks, known as extenders.

Senators call for mass-transit benefit extension

A group of 22 senators has called on the Senate Finance Committee to take up extending a mass-transit commuter tax benefit, which expires at the end of the year. The mass-transit benefit is set to be cut nearly in half — from $230 a month to $120 — starting next year, barring action by Congress.
