Baltimore federal offices reopen Wednesday
The Federal Executive Board in Baltimore has recommended that federal agencies in Baltimore reopen Wednesday -- with unscheduled leave and telework options in place. There's no word yet from the Office of Personnel Management on the operating status of federal buildings in Washington, D.C. for Wednesday.

Federal agencies in D.C. reopen Wednesday
Federal agencies in the Washington, D.C., area reopened Wednesday with unscheduled leave and telework options available to employees, the Office of Personnel Management announced. Before OPM made the announcement, several agencies contacted by Federal News Radio detailed only minor impacts from the storm and said they would be ready to open if OPM made that decision.

Coast Guard kicks into high gear after Sandy
Nearly 170 people are reported stranded in New York City, where Coast Guard helicopters are now being deployed, said Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Jamie Frederick. Most calls the Coast Guard received this morning were inland-based, Frederick said.

National Mall largely unaffected by Sandy
The National Park Service says its low-lying monuments and memorials along the National Mall came through superstorm Sandy largely unscathed. Spokeswoman Carol Johnson says there's a slight possibility that the World War II Memorial could have some minor flooding, but it's designed to withstand it and would not be damaged.
