Congress mulls expansion of VA's system to verify veteran-owned firms
The Veterans Affairs Department's process for verifying eligibility in the service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses program could become standard procedure for all agencies. VA is the only department that checks to make sure contractors are eligible.

AGA recommends new COO, PIO job descriptions
The Association of Government Accountants is calling on the government to change how it finds and hires chief operating officers. AGA said better hires should lead to better program performance. TSA is offering targeted early retirements, but certain mission-critical employees cannot apply. NGA is offering 150 buyouts.

GSA seeks buyouts, early-out approval
The agency said it wants to reduce its workforce by 5 percent. GSA hopes the restructuring will ensure it has the skill sets required for peak efficiency and effectiveness. The Office of Personnel Management must approve its request.

DynCorp, EEOC settle harassment, retaliation suit
The company will pay $155,000 to settle claims that one of its employees harassed another with daily derogatory sex-based comments. DynCorp denies any wrongdoing and says the alleged harasser is no longer an employee.

USDA saves $800 million in improper payments from being made
USDA Under Secretary Kevin Concannon says that his department has cut improper payments from 10 percent to less than 4 percent from its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
