DISA data centers to play host to VA-DoD health records system
The Veterans Affairs Department announced in January plans to to move electronic health records under its Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) to data centers managed by the Defense Information System Agency. VA Chief Information Officer Roger Baker said it the co-location of systems on DISA's servers was a 'logical move.'

DHS wants to ride commercial wave for interoperable radio network
After a decade of unsuccessful attempts, including the Justice Department's Integrated Wireless Network, the Homeland Security Department wants to leap forward with technology by using commercial 4G networks to connect law enforcement agencies. DHS created a joint program office to lead the effort. The approach is part of OMB's shared services initiative for agencies to work together on big programs.

VA issues stop-work order on crucial element of e-health record system

VA delivering 9 out of 10 IT projects on time
In the Department of Veterans Affairs, it took two years and a big culture change to raise the rate of on-time deliveries of IT projects from below 30 percent to just shy of 90 percent. But according to VA's CIO, those changes amount to his department giving itself its own budget increase.

Veterans Affairs restarts some of its suspended projects
Veterans Affairs CIO Roger Baker does not give too many details, but says the troubled initiatives have plans and milestones, and are in a better place. VA plans on prioritizing its top programs and ending those that do not make the cut. Baker says for too long the agency has tried to do too much, and that was one reason for its failures.
