VA awards contract for mobile device management, apps store

Procurement will start with management of 5,000 mobile devices, plus app stores for consumers inside and outside of VA. The agency awarded a three-year, $9.3 million deal to Longview International Technology Solutions to build and manage the technology in the cloud.

OMB wants 'single door' for vendors at each agency

Federal CIO Steven VanRoekel wants agencies to create vendor management organizations to centralize how contractors work with departments. So far, four agencies are piloting the vendor management organizations. VanRoekel, who also wants agencies to use investment review boards more for strategic goals, said the use of both tools "very much align with our priorities to do more with less."

Encrypted laptops ease VA's concerns about data breaches

VA, National Archives team up to help dig out of claims backlog

OMB launches PortfolioStat to reduce commodity IT spending

Agencies have to meet a series of milestones starting in June to eventually migrate two commodity IT functions to shared services or strategic sourcing contracts. VA, GSA, Interior and Patent and Trademark Office have tested the concept of managing by portfolios as well as vendor management organizations.
