Agencies open under unscheduled leave policy on Tuesday

The Office of Personnel Management made the announcement Monday afternoon. Employees in D.C. area must notify their supervisors of their intent to take unscheduled leave. Emergency employees are expected to report for work on time.

OPM says safety is paramount in government closure decisions

In Washington, even an inch of slushy snow is enough to cause havoc with commuters. It's a big factor in whether or not the Federal Government will open for business here in Washington, D.C. FederalNewsRadio's Senior Correspondent Mike Causey broke the news that the Office of Personnel Management will now have a decision on whether to open or close the government on bad weather days by 4 am, instead of 5 am.
