Agencies offered new approach to measure employee engagement

Ahead of results of the annual Federal Employee Viewpoint survey, a National Council on Federal Labor Management Relations working group proposed its initial ways to improve employee engagement through the use of different types of metrics. The Office of Personnel Management is expected to release the annual EVS results in August.

Obama appoints new members to labor-management council

Unions hope new tools will help labor-management forums be more effective

The National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations is getting ready to launch new tools to help partnerships between agency management and federal-employee unions better measure their effectiveness. A handful of agencies are months late in compiling metrics on the use and effectiveness of the forums, according to a report presented at a meeting of the labor-management council Wednesday. Unions are frustrated with the haphazard data collection.

OPM, AFGE test drive new governmentwide mentoring hub

The goal of the mentoring hub is to provide a one-stop shop and standardize, in many respects, how mentoring and knowledge sharing are done across the government. The first pilot focuses on human resources and problem solving. It includes a series of group mentoring events to share techniques for solving problems.
