Instead, after six years and protracted legal battles, the National Security Personnel System. was abolished by Congress. With more than 225,000 employees, who were once covered by the system, now converted back to the General Schedule, Federal News Radio examines the lessons learned and legacy of NSPS.

DoD, OPM to make recommendations this summer

The Department of Defense and the Office of Personnel Management have will be reviewing the National Security Personnel System.
Defense Business Board convenes a second day of hearings on NSPS, the controversial pay-for-performance program at the Department of Defense. Members of the public, DoD staff and supervisors will follow six experts who, on Thursday, defended and attacked NSPS.
DoD authorization bill calls for all converted employees to return to GS system. Legislation also would suspend A-76 for three years.
