OMB opens door to non-federal online credentials

A memo from federal CIO Steven VanRoekel requires agencies to begin accepting usernames and passwords from commercial companies such as Verisign or Google. This is the second time the government has tried to accept commercial credentials. Experts say this time agencies and industry are better prepared to be successful.

NIH doctor's work transforms once-fatal illness

When Princeton University football player Jordan Culbreath was diagnosed with aplastic anemia in 2009, there was only one place to go: the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute at NIH. The once-fatal illness now carries an 80 percent survival rate, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Neal A. Young.
