Obama launches reshaping, shrinking of US military

Martin Dempsey, unveiled the results of an eight-month defense strategy review that is intended to guide decisions on cutting hundreds of billions from planned Pentagon spending over the coming decade. But the eight-page document contained no details about how broad concepts for reshaping the military will translate into troop or weapons cuts.

Dempsey advises against adding National Guard to Joint Chiefs
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Martin Dempsey said he will recommend to Congress that the chief of the National Guard bureau not become a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He announced the decision ahead of expected Congressional testimony later this week so service members would hear it from him first, before hearing it on the news.
