Five-year pay freeze, more federal job cuts proposed

The Republican Study Committee introduced the Spending Reduction Act that would eliminate USAID and three other small agencies. It also would take spending back to 2006 levels in fiscal 2012. The legislation also would cut or reduce spending in 100 programs such as agency travel budgets and require the collection of unpaid taxes from federal employees.

TSA union vote goes to run-off

Neither of the two federal unions to represent 44,000 Transportation Security Agency employees received a majority of the vote. The election will go into a run-off in the next few weeks.

CR won't stop AFGE shutdown lawsuit

AFGE president John Gage says it is unconstitutional for the government to order federal employees to work without pay, even during a shutdown. He told Federal News Radio a possible compromise won't stop the union from suing to prove the point.

AFGE pulls out of NSPS talks

The American Federation of Government Employees said Tuesday it will no longer participate in discussions related to the future status of DoD employees who had been part of the soon-to-be-terminated National Security Personnel System. The labor organization said "union-busting" activities by the Air Force were the reason for its decision.
