Justice, NSC lead review of cyber laws

An interagency working group is trying to decide whether the administration should submit a proposal to Congress to update several laws. The White House's cyberspace review recommended legislative updates to address shortcomings in the current statutes. Justice also reviewed the Einstein 3 program even as DHS still is testing it.

Senator optimistic about major cyber bill this year

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), who led a Senate Intelligence Committee review of cybersecurity policy last year, said he is hopeful that Congress will be able to pass an overhaul of cyber laws this year. Whitehouse has been critical of the pace at which the Obama Administration has moved to propose such changes to lawmakers.
