Some Homeland Security employees are worried about their exposure to the Ebola virus. Many of them work at the Transportation Security Administration and Customs and Border Protection. A few U.S. airports are screening passengers for Ebola. CBP employees will perform most of the checks. New leadership at the Veterans Affairs Department has its union, the American Federation of Government Employees, are hoping for better times ahead. VA is just one agency working to repair relations between unionized employees and their managers. Some unions within the National Council on Federal Labor Management Relations say agencies are shutting them out their meetings before making decisions. J. Obama appoints new members to labor-management council

President Barack Obama has appointed four new members to the National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations. Union leaders from the Teamsters, American Federation of Government Employees, Federal Education Association and National Association of Government Employees will advise the President on federal labor relations.

The House and Senate have appointed members to a conference committee on legislation to revamp the Veterans Affairs health care system. Regardless of how Congress ends up changing the structure to address long wait times for patients, the system will need more money for emergencies. That is one request from the American Federation of Government Employees, which represents many front-line VA employees. J. David Cox is the union's president and a former VA nurse. He joined Tom Temin and Emily Kopp on the Federal Drive to discuss how the problems at the VA are affecting the front-line employees.
