Duqu virus variant emerges

The Duqu virus, widely known as a "twin" to the Stuxnet worm that targeted Iran's nuclear infrastructure, is evolving yet again. Software security firm Symantec said the program has a new variant altered "just enough...to evade some security product detections."

VA ending Microsoft licensing in 'ruthless reduction'

Anonymous hackers target industry supporters of cyber bill

The Hacker group Anonymous appears to be planning attacks on companies and elected officials that support certain cybersecurity legislation. So far, hackers have claimed credit for taking down the websites of Boeing, TechAmerica and USTelecom over the past few days.

First U.S. Marines head down under

The first round of American troops stationed in Australia have landed, Defense News reports. More than two thousand marines will eventually settle at Robertson barracks in six-month rotations because the US doesn't have a permanent base in Australia.

Marine Corps' portable solar-energy units mean fewer IED deaths

The Defense Department is the single largest consumer of energy in the world, and as part of a broad strategy to shift consumption to renewable sources, the Marine Corps is rolling out its Ground Renewable Expeditionary Energy Network System (GREENS). Project manager Michael Gallagher told In Depth that GREENS saves not only fossil fuels and money, but also lives.
