DHS gives EAGLE II protesters a second look

The Homeland Security Department told the Government Accountability Office it is taking corrective action by re-reviewing proposals after 46 unsuccessful bidders protested their exclusion from the largest portion of the $22 billion IT services contract.

Lawmakers question DHS' awards under the EAGLE II contract

Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas), chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, and Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), chairman of the subcommittee on Oversight and Management Efficiency, wrote a letter to DHS Chief Procurement Officer Nick Nayak earlier this week questioning the agency's entire solicitation process.

IRS tones its systems to better handle the tax season

Two contracts with Unisys that could be worth more than $800 million help the tax agency innovate and become more efficient. The IRS is using the first-of-its-kind in the federal market storage-as-a-service approach to increasing and decreasing the amount of storage it needs based on how busy it is during the year.

Treasury's FMS proving shared services works

The Financial Management Service moved many of its day-to-day IT operations to the Bureau of Public Debt. FMS is providing oversight and guidance for IT systems in return. John Kopec, FMS's chief information officer, said his next set of priorities is to use business intelligence and analytics tools on the data from the shared service providers.
