Agencies finalize diversity plans

VA: Happy feds saved $200 million in turnover costs

The Department of Veterans Affairs avoided $200 million in turnover costs by investing in online training resources for employees, Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Administration John Sepulveda told Federal News Radio. New strategy gives agencies a "springboard" for increasing diversity

Md. census: Hispanic population, D.C. area growth

The suburbs of Washington, D.C., saw big increases. Residents of Montgomery County, the state's largest county, grew by 11.3 percent to 971,777. The number of Prince George's County residents rose 7.7 percent to 863,420. Baltimore County's population went up 6.7 percent to 805,029.

Low number of Latinos gives urgency to diversity initiative

The latest OPM report on Latinos in the federal government shows no improvement in 2009 and 2010. They remain the most underrepresented racial and ethnic group in the federal workforce, making up eight percent of employees. OPM has convened a council to recommend improvements.
