Brian Lepore, Government Accountability Office

The Defense Department isn't following one of its own roadmaps. Back in 2012, defense planners devised a plan for protecting bases and installations from the potentially damaging effects of climate change. That's all started to affect DoD's planning, but there's a lot more to do. Brian Lepore is the director of Defense Capabilities and Management at the Government Accountability Office. He joined Tom Temin on the Federal Drive to discuss what the roadmaps mean.

Marcia Crosse, Government Accountability Office

The Service to America Medals honor federal employees who go above and beyond their job descriptions to serve the public. Federal News Radio will be speaking to the finalists. As the director of healthcare at the Government Accountability Office, Marcia Crosse has drawn Congress' attention to needs at the Food and Drug Administration. Her boss says she's been at the forefront of her field: identifying needed improvements in the oversight of medical products. In part because of her work, the FDA now has more tools to regulate drugs and medical devices from overseas. Crosse is a finalist in the citizen services category of the 2014 Sammies awards. She joined Tom Temin and Emily Kopp on the Federal Drive to discuss the data she analyzes. Read a Q&A with Marcia Crosse.

Jim White, Director of Tax Issues, Government Accountability Office

Budget cuts have left the IRS high and dry. The Government Accountability Office says the agency has absorbed $900 million in cuts over the past four years. At the same time, the agency is failing to keep up with a growing source of tax revenue: large partnerships. Congress has raised concerns about the extent to which the IRS is able to audit these entities. Jim White, director of tax issues at the GAO, told Federal Drive hosts Tom Temin and Emily Kopp about the partnerships.
