Apps for the Army coming this month

CIO Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Sorenson says the service will use Forge.mil as a repository for software developed in the battlefield. The goal is for other soldiers and commands to see what exists, use it and improve upon it.

Army to transform through apps

Service CIO Lt. Gen. Jeff Sorenson details how the Army will judge and award $30,000 in prize money to soldiers and civilian employees under the Apps for the Army program. Up to 100 contestants can submit apps in one of eight categories. The Army will announce the winners in August.

Army to test enterprise e-mail for all of DoD

Lt. Gen. Sorenson says the service will issue a RFP in the coming weeks. Then the Army will follow with a solicitation for its data center consolidation effort, called APCs. Sorenson says it will launch Apps for the Army in the coming weeks as well.
