The federal initiative to increase diversity and inclusion in its workforce may be critical to an agency's mission or seen as a political ploy depends on the employees' race, ethnicity and gender. That is what a Federal News Radio survey revealed: sharp divides among federal employees. And the widely differing points of view may make it more difficult for agencies to implement new diversity and inclusion strategies.
Federally Employed Women, which is aimed at improving the status of women working for the federal government, reviewed legislators' voting records on 10 bills mostly related to federal pay and benefits. The group gave its highest score — a 100 percent — to two senators and 23 House members, all Democrats.
Janet Kopenhaver, FEW's Washington representative, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss what her group is working on for its members in the federal workforce.
