Room for improvement found at DHS S&T

A House committee preparing an authorization bill for the Department of Homeland Security finds there's room for improvement at the agency's Science and Technology Directorate. Lawmakers want a more cohesive strategy to drive the agency's research and development arm and improve how it works with the private sector to meet the mission needs of DHS constituent agencies.

In an effort to bolster its forces on the cybersecurity front, the Department of Homeland Security has been granted special new hiring authority to recruit as many as 1,000 new cybersecurity experts over the next three years. The announcement comes at the start of 'National Cybersecurity Awareness Month'.
