House to add small business flavor to DoD authorization bill
The committee will focus on making it easier for small firms to do business with the Pentagon. The military missed three of five small business goals in 2010. The Panel on Business Challenges in the Defense Industry made several recommendations to improve the success of small firms that want to do business with DoD.

Army's migration to cloud email pushed back at least 45 days
Congress wants two reports on enterprise email: one from the Army that is due by Jan. 31 and another from DoD CIO Teri Takai by June. Army deputy CIO Mike Krieger said the requirement for a report caused the service to delay the program for 30 days and would push back the final migration date to at least mid-May.

2 big changes for defense contractors in 2012 authorization bill
Two provisions in the 2012 Defense Authorization Bill directly impact defense contractors. One applies a contractor pay cap to all contract employees, and the other puts more responsibility on contractors to stop counterfeit electronic parts.

Military pay raise, TRICARE premium hikes part of defense authorization bill
Lawmakers have agreed on a $662 billion defense spending bill that includes a 1.6 percent pay raise, increases to TRICARE premiums and a cap on contractor executive pay, the House and Senate Armed Services Committees announced late Monday.

Cyber Monday counterfeiting crackdown highlights agency collaboration
The Justice Department and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement led a government-wide effort to stem the flow of counterfeit products. The White House launched a public-service campaign to let citizens know the impact of fake products on the economy. The Senate passed more stringent rules for DoD and its vendors to make sure military parts are original.
