Work officially sets up Pentagon reservation IT shared services

The Joint IT Single Service Provider-Pentagon is a much better name than the Pentagon Defense Information Service Agency Field Activity. But in the end, no matter what this new shared service office is called, Defense Deputy Secretary Bob Work signed off on the consolidation of redundant IT services options across the Pentagon Reservation and in the National Capital Region.

DoD pursues back-office savings ahead of potential cuts from sequestration

DoD: No more sequestration, yes to pension reform and BRAC in budget request

The White House defense budget request is $38 billion over the limits set by sequestration. In an attempt to balance the increased funding, the Pentagon is pursuing pay and benefits reform, and another round of BRAC.

Kendall shapes DoD acquisition reforms around 7 areas

Frank Kendall, the undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, sent a letter to Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Carl Levin (D-Mich.) back in June detailing how Congress can help DoD improve its acquisition outcomes. The list includes stopping sequestration, continued support of workforce training and simplifying rules and regulations.

Tom Temin, Host, Federal News Radio

Today is the first official day on the job for Bob Work as deputy secretary of Defense. The Senate confirmed him yesterday by voice vote. He's a known quantity at DoD. He left as deputy secretary of the Navy about a year ago. Federal News Radio's Tom Temin says Work has a great reputation.
